“I worked at a very high-end department store and took a break,” Janyl says. “I took a bead class with my mom and realized ‘oh my gosh, this could be a jewelry line.’ I quit and started that jewelry line, with beaded jewelry, in three months.”

“My whole concept is making the jewelry inside just as beautiful as the outside, because I want my customers to know that and feel that. It’s those things that we buy, and we pass down and we cherish because it comes from one of our loved ones.”

Oftentimes, Bali jewelry tells a story, and they make this handcrafted jewelry in modern and antique styles. They use amazing techniques, such as filigree, jawan, and granulation to craft their designs that are simply marvelous to behold.

Bali jewelry makers use intricate and delicate metalwork, using beads and threads of metal that are soldered together to craft images and patterns that are stunning to behold. “The passion for designing and doing beautiful things come natural to them,” Janyl said. “If you’ve ever traveled to Bali, you know the environment and how the flora and fauna and architecture is just absolutely beautiful. Janyl produces roughly 120 new designs each month, drawing them on paper and then working with her artisans to bring her vision to life. From there, it’s a six-month process to produce her pieces. Sometimes even long, because of Janyl’s exacting standards.

“There is so much to making this type of jewelry, the perfectionism,” Janyl says. “It’s almost too much for some of our teams, with all of the changes we have to make to get it to this level.”

DESIGNED TO PERFECTION

OUR PROCESS

Our creator, Janyl Sherman, travels the world in search of the most beautiful gems to set in handcrafted Bali silver. Each piece SARDA jewelry is conceived by Janyl our designer and crafted by a team of four silversmiths over six months. SARDA jewelry goes through a meticulous six-step polishing and oxidation process, creating a unique, rich, dimensional look that also prevents tarnishing.
